Color Crush: Green
My favorite color in elementary school was green… It feels good to be back.
I mean, seriously y’all, I was obsessed. It started in first grade with my lime green, LL Bean backpack. Next, came a pair of crocs in the same hue. In third grade, I redecorated my room with a green + white polka dot duvet cover (fashioned by my mom). Soon after came a princess phone that we painted to match (unfortunately the acrylic paint we used gobbed up in the corners making it quite the sticky pickup/hangup process… but it was cute so of course, it didn’t matter). And finally, my electric green iPod nano provided the soundtrack for my fourth and fifth grade years.
Sixth grade rolled around, and it was time to match the maturity of those 7th and 8th graders with which I’d be sharing the school hallways. Green just wasn’t going to cut it. Naturally, I’d let my next LL Bean backpack (obvi had to upgrade from Junior to Deluxe) dictate my new color crush. Twelve year old Wells decided on navy: a sophisticated choice for a sophisticated, middle school, landscape.
Needless to say, it feels good returning to my green-goggling roots (which reminds me— I had a pair of those, too, for swim team). Every boutique I step into seems to share the same adoration. That’s why I wanted to splash some green onto Swells of Splendor, via the Rattan Riviera collection. Back by popular demand, The Kelly Rattan Scarf screams summer. Made for garden parties, summer picnics, and exciting vaycays, this vibrant scarf energizes any outfit.
I paired the Kelly Scarf with this to die for dress from Rent the Runway. It was super cute, lightweight, and the high waistline was very flattering. If you aren’t already an RTR member, then click here to get 40% off your first month!
To keep with the monochromatic theme, I accessorized with a beaded purse I found years ago at a resell shop. And my sandals are from Abercrombie and Fitch! They’re linked in here.
Since my outfit isn’t comprised of a lot of “buy now’s,” here’s some options with a similar vibe. Contrary to Kermit, it is easy being green :)
